Westport is township land rather than a city, which means larger parcels, wells and septic on some properties, and a quieter road network. Frontage runs long here: hundred-foot lots are normal and point properties on Governors Island reach a hundred and forty feet or more.
The peninsula sits close to the widest part of Mendota, so the run to open water is short and the view is uninterrupted. That geometry is why point lots on the island trade rarely and hold value through soft markets.
Governor Nelson State Park anchors the west end with a public beach, a launch and six miles of trail. Waunakee's village center, with the schools and the grocery, is ten minutes north.
